About

Coaching and Care Counseling- Non-Licensed

Hi and Welcome amazing humans, My name is Cierra Perea, a proud mom of two, a strong-willed young adult daughter, and a beautiful Autistic son and I advocate on his behalf as his voice daily. I do the same for my clients and want to make sure they succeed. I have been working in the mental health field for over 18 years, and I understand the daily demands of being a mom and also understand that life happens and we all need help in some way and want to be there to support others for success. I have come from a life of trauma and want to show my clients that they have everything they need to succeed, all we need to do is hone into that superpower that we all have inside us and ignite it. I have a Masters in Criminology with a Focus on Human Behavior and a Bachelors in Human Services with an AOC in family and child services. I also have 2 years worth of credits obtained from previous Forensic Psychology PhD program but is pursuing a different route in clinical profession TBD. I am a member of the American Psychological Association, American Association of Suicidology, and a member of the Society for Police and Criminal Psychology. I am also a Certified Crisis Specialist through the American Association of Suicidology. I currently have a QMHA-R for state of Oregon that I am also working on. I have been involved in many trainings and certifications with Concept Palo Alto University for continuing education credits as well as attending various Webinars to become well-rounded in all realms of forensics,Neurodiverse, trauma informed, Alzheimer's/Dementia, LGBTQIA+, and any special needs populations. Many certificates with Society for Police and Criminal Psychology & CEU’s w/ Palo Alto University. Some of the strategies that I like to use as far as coping mechanisms and natural tool sets is DBT which is also known as dialectal behavioral therapy, this usually utilizes your internal skill sets by allowing you to understand your body in more ways than one as well as using your nervous system to redirect behavior that has aligned with what I tell my clients as your body's blueprint. When we come from any trauma, physical, emotional, or sexual, associated with childhood, adulthood, situational, or something recent, our body seems to hold on to those heightened triggers over time. Some examples are, but are not limited to, panic disorders, anxiety, PTSD, CPTSD, ADHD, ODD, Personality D/O, and Bipolar I & II. I have found in research and theory your nervous system, essentially takes your triggers and creates that as a firm baseline. Some of the techniques I use, along with the specialties that I am educated in help create a new blueprint, this also helps you grow in all areas whether it be relationships, setting boundaries, gaining your power back, and thriving in the new chapters of your life. DBT has been proven to be effective in helping people work through problems including: • Overwhelming emotions • Impulsive behavior • Self-injury • Suicidal thoughts • Substance use • Eating disorders • Trauma • Attachment Styles in all relationships • Abandonment issues • Flight, fight, flee, fawn and Puff-up • Challenging relationships that are filled with conflict or arguments. A little about Care Coaching and Care Counselling: Care coaching as a whole is a step down from traditional therapy, and helping with daily life skills, interpersonal relationships, communication, support, and help to ensure clients are aligned in their treatment goals from previous or current providers. Mental health coaches help their patients develop a greater awareness of themselves and learn effective tools to better manage the challenges in their lives. Coaches help clients manage emotions, challenge negative thinking patterns, improve relationship skills, and reduce stress and anxiety, all of which bolsters mental health. Mental health coaches help with you to elevate your mood, challenge self-limiting beliefs, and teach you about the importance of self-love and acceptance. Just like a therapist, a mental health coach is somebody who is listening to you and acting as your support system. and providing you with insight on what’s going on below the surface.
